A collection of illustrated letters from Father Christmas recapping the activities of the preceding year at the North Pole.
The letters were written by the author to his children.
When tolkien's children sent letters to Father Christmas, he answered with elaborate drawings and detailed responses telling of the North Pole and all its inhabitants. These letters are an important part of understanding tolkien's method of myth-creation but, moreover, they are gorgeous to look at. The book is in Very Good Plus/Near Fine condition, with the pictorial cover very clean and bright.
No loss of color to the corners or edges, but shows some minor rubbing.

Pages are all clean and bright, no other markings or faults noted.

The 1st printing of the 1st Canadian Edition, published in 1976.
